Ingredients:
3-4 apples
1 tsp lemon juice
Optional:
Sweeteners – honey, agave, sugar, etc.
Flavorings – cinnamon, vanilla, citrus, pineapple, strawberries, etc.
Wash and core 3-4 apples, and cut them into quarters (or smaller). Place them in a saucepan and cover them with water. Add 1 tsp of lemon juice to the water. Simmer the apples until they become tender.
Once the apples are tender, remove them from the heat and drain off the liquid. Put the apple slices (including skin) in a food processor or blender. Sweetener may be added. I prefer a teaspoon of honey or agave nectar, but you could use sugar or brown sugar, etc. Blend in short bursts until desired consistency is reached.
Variations: before blending, you can add other ingredients to flavor. Try cinnamon (which may require extra sweetener), vanilla extract, citrus extract, or other extracts. You can also include other fruits, such as citrus zest, pineapple chunks, cranberries, a few strawberries, etc.
